Just finished this and was disappointed. Picked it up because the first chapter had been turned into a short story that appeared in the New Yorker - and I really liked it. But this seemed almost arbitrary in the turns the plot took. The male lead (husband) was really just a foil and there is a section of moony-lovey yearning for an old love that turned the whole thing into a woman's novel (used pejoratively). However, there were some descriptions of Bangladesh that were lovely and the expectations of the families interested me. I wouldn't really recommend it though except as a light read.
