Short and well-written, this was my first experience with Barnes the author and I've got to say he kept me entranced enough to power through this in one sitting. It's not exactly a riveting story, but the way Barnes uses language more than makes up for the somewhat slow pace of the plot. The ending was surprising and I haven't been thrown by a novel like that in quite awhile.
