Historically useful and with Mitros's introduction helps illuminate the way slaveholding worked in New Jersey. Hard to get around the fact that the book deals with such a small area that reading all of the slavery related documents for the county feels like you are scraping the barrel of interest. I learned from this book that New Jersey was the last northern state to outlaw slavery. The archivist who put this together came as a guest speaker to our class and was constantly and forcefully interrupted by our ubergregarious teacher.
