This is my second Reichs book and it will be my last. I enjoyed the book until the middle, at which point Brennan became stupid and unlikeable. I find it interesting that the TV character is unfamiliar with the ways of the world and can be stubborn but she is never stupid or unlikable. Why do the TV writers get it and Reichs doesn't? It's bad when you find yourself liking minor characters better than the protagonist. It's too bad because this started out as an intriguing story. I don't know the history and, until I saw some of the other comments, I assumed it was accurate. Granted this is fiction and granted authors are allowed a lot of leeway in fiction however historical events should be reasonably correct in time and place.
