Margaret's life has turned upside down since her father's death and her mother remarrying. She is being pressured to marry someone she doesn't love in order for her father-in-law to gain access to her inheritance. She must escape until her inheritance is hers and it is safe to return. She doesn't know where to go or what to do. She finds an unlikely ally in her maid and embarks on a quest of self-discovery as a lowly servant.

This is by far my favorite book by this author to date! It is in the Christian genre, but I didn't feel it was overly done, enough so that I would recommend it to anyone. I loved the characters and the suspense. The historical background was also very well done.
