Sarah Stewart
Four teens, different situations, all with the same problem: perfection. Cara fights her parent’s expectations, these high expectations, which lead her twin brother to attempt suicide. Through the struggle, can she find love, even if it’s with another girl? Kendra, a model, struggles with her body image and how skinny she should look to please the model agencies. She will go to all lengths to create the perfect body. Sean will go to all lengths to become an accomplished athlete to please his late father, even if it means taking steroids, which causes roid rage. Andre is looking to be a dancer, though he knows his family won’t agree with his choice in a career. He must decide if he should follow his parents’ dreams or his own. This is the story of these teens trying to become perfect in their own way, no matter what. A moving story, companion to Impulse, Ellen Hopkins beautifully wrote their stories in poem form that will have readers wondering what to lengths they would go to become perfect.
