Amazing graphic novel. Delisle captures so much of what Jerusalem the baffling, exhausting, wonderful, beautiful city that it is. The fact that he lived in East Jerusalem perhaps colored his reporting. So much about the suffering of the Palestinians; not much about the suffering of the Israelis. But leaving politics aside, the book has great humor and insight into a society that is plaqued with contradictions, complex, and rife with assumptions and prejudices on both sides. It made me want to go back to Israel and see some of the sights he describes that I've missed in my visits.
