I picked up this book after reading an excerpt from "Lord of Scoundrels". Since I haven't tried any romance novels from Elizabeth Boyle before, I most likely missed many character references from previous books.

I enjoyed the story because it followed the tried-and-true formula of mistaken identity, and the betrayal after the woman finds out that he is everything she was secretly hoping for. However, I did not feel any emotional ties to the character or story, and it lacked a sharpness in dialogue that I have come to expect from reading too much Loretta Chase. The ploy of 'the Lost Duke' went on for longer than I was expecting, and the climactic reveal was a little flat in execution.

As entertaining as the book was to read, I am doubtful that it will be memorable to me a few months down the line.
