The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan

This book was great. There was the usual jokes and gags. Sadie was caught up in boy trouble as she had to try and choose between Anubis and Walt. Apophis is rising and only the Kanes and their few allies can stop him. Worst of all, they have to trust the evil uncle Vinnie (Sadie's words, not mine). He is actually known as Setne. He reminds me of Hermes and his children, but he's a really eeeevil version.
The book was really well written, as usual. I had seen the Walt thing coming but wow! Ra was amazing! Ra ra ra ra ra! Roma- roma ma! And ooh... Sadie and Anubis, sitting in a graveyard... K-I-S-S-I-N-G! Love them! I really like Walt too. Man I had not expected Riordan to use a love triangle. And man he totally did a Melissa Marr with this triangle! Read the Wicked Lovely series and this to figure out what I mean.
Funniest god in this one was probably Neith and her Jelly Babies conspiracy. Oh only Sadie Kane could convince someone of that. And of course Carter has his own problems what with Zia. And aww... Felix is so cute. I love the way he uses penguins to fight his battles. But I would have really liked to know which god he would follow the path of.
I heard someone say that the Kane Chronicles was like a fake Percy Jackson. That is a lie. There are a lot of similarities: the same writing style, the fact that it is an adaptation on a mythology, and that it's the whole GOOD vs EVIL. But the characters are different. The adventures are different. For one, it is not restricted simply to America. These two go everywhere: Egypt, Russia, America, England. Must be fun, and life-threatening to be a Kane.
So important question:
WHO LIKES ZEBRAS? AND ARE YOU TEAM WALT OR TEAM ANUBIS?

Delaney Team Anubis!!!!! I know, I know. Why Anubis? HE'S HOT!!! And attracting in a bad boy-off limits way. Who wouldn't love a guy more because you're not supposed to?! And he's MAGICAL TOO!! I am also surprised that Rick used a love triangle. It sounds...too simple for him. It's so common in books now. But he knows that if he's going to do that, he's got to make it special and find an interesting way to resolve it and not just make Sadie "choose." and so, Walt-nubis is born. It's so creepy, but so...easy for Rick to think of. I sooooo loved this book. Best book of the series. By a landslide. 

Yeah, I saw it coming from about the end of The Throne of Fire actually. I wasn't surprised at all but laughed out loud when I saw Sadie's reaction! Melissa Marr has done a similar thing with one of her love triangles in her Wicked Lovely series so I found it strange that Riordan was doing more or less the same thing. Marr has about THREE love triangles in her series as the novel changes perspectives a lot. But it works, in a way other novel have failed:
There is- Seth, Keenan & Aisilinn (of the Summer court- Most of the are faeries)
Irial, Niall & Leslie (the girl- the guys are of the Dark court)
and Rae, Ani, and Devlin (of the High court)
But I hadn't seen the Zia thing coming. EPIC!
