I'm a big fan of Charles de Lint. Onion Girl was no different. Although I highly enjoyed the book, there were parts that felt like it slowed the pace of the story down. Also, as a writer, I had a problem with the fact that the main character, Jilly's scenes were written in first person, while all other characters were written in third person.
With that said, all characters were relateable and well-constructed. I love the dreamworld Charles created with it's Wonderland-type appeal. The story itself was moving and fantastical. It really made you care for the characters; making you want to turn that next page. I recommend this book.
