The Aviary Gate: A Novel by Katie Hickman
Meh. Honestly, this one didn't hold my interest and I put it down about 1/3 of the way through, something I very rarely do.
Funny story about the word "aviary." (Yes, I have stories about words. I'm a dork, deal with it.) In seventh grade I wrote a Batman fan-fic for a writing assignment. The featured villain was the Penguin and his lair was an aviary. When grading it, my teacher put a huge red "X" through the word "aviary" saying there was no such word. I remember very vividly grabbing the dictionary, marching right up to her, and demanding a correction.
God I was such a twerp.
