In this book Malcolm explains how the world's most successful are different. Why the world's best hockey players are the best? Why Bill Gates and Bill Joy and other software billionaires succeeded? What is success? What do you need to be successful? The answer to this later question is "Opportunity" and "Legacy". Outliers are not necessarily the brightest minds, they are bright enough, but without the opportunities that were presented to them, and the cultural legacy they grew up through, they might not have made that much of success. Success is a lot more complex that just a personal merit.
