Read from June 20 to 22, 2012

When Ellie and her partner are called uptown to an apparent suicide, they're both ready to write off the call. The vic's father is big leaguer in the music industry, though, and forces the department to treat the case as a homicide. The vic's mother is insistent that her daughter would never have killed herself, despite all evidence otherwise. Even Ellie grudgingly begins to admit that there are some things that don't quite mesh with the suicide theory.

NEVER TELL is very well plotted. I was guessing all the way to the end. I love Ellie too. You definitely get pieces of her personal life and relationships through the main plot of the story but they're minor threads that support the main plot of each book. Burke shares more about Ellie in the way she handles her cases and the people involved.

Though this is the fourth book in the series, it can be read alone. Folks starting here might have a few spoilers in backtracking as Ellie refers to things that have happened in past cases.
