The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Ending is contrived! I'm teaching this book right now, and I think there's a lot to it. I don't know. I keep going back and forth on it. To me, it's an entertain-o book, like The DaVinci Code. And yet. There are places written thoughtfully. On the whole, I think it's great that American people are reading something non-American--gets us out of the bubble a bit. I guess I just feel like it was overrated.
