This book is a real fun book to read. It's only 112 pages so it is a very fast read. The book is about a young girl who plants bean seeds in a vacant lot filled with trash. After she plants them, the reader gets to experience different narrators and they're view on the beans. The reader sees that the beans this girl plants helps restore and transform the neighborhood.
I felt the book to be a nice story and a good read. It's not a challenging book, but it did open my eyes to see just what small actions can do and the impact it can have on other people. Paul Fleischman does a good job developing each character and showing their story about the beans. The illustrations at the beginning of each chapter made it fun to see what each character looked like in the eyes of Fleischman. In the end, I liked it and I would recommend it to people. It's a cute book.
