I Never Promised You a Goodie Bag: A Memoir of a Life Through Events--the Ones You Plan and the Ones You Don't

I read this book in one day - now mind you this was on a one-day whirlwind flight from DC to Chicago and back. Gilbert's story kept me company throughout the delayed flights, subways and quiet planes. The memoir itself reminded me a bit of "Eat, Pray, Love" in the way that a tragedy occurs and the author brings herself back to life, a sort of middle-aged coming-of-age book.
My analogy to EPL probably arises from the fact that I could clearly see three delineations in Gilbert's life: growing up/tragedy strikes, reacting to said tragedy by becoming a successful business woman who couldn't feel her pain or relate to others, and then finally coming into her own.
What may have sealed the deal in me liking the book is that Gilbert ends it with a saying I like to say and that is "Live, Laugh, Love". In fact, she probably could have named this book that... This review is clouded by where I am in my life and it gives me hope that through the bad times and unseen scars, we will be whole again.
