A bit more cursory than I would have liked, though I'm sure the Putin machine wouldn't let anything out. Gessen is obviously not a fan. She makes the case of how Putin came from nothing to the presidency, an how he was able to hold onto this power at all costs. Unfortunately the book is more about his actions effects than about him or his actions. I enjoyed the read though.

Jennifer Ciotta Salvatore, nope, she's def. not a fan. I see what you mean about his actions. If you'd like to really delve into the psyche of Putin and understand why he does what he does, may I suggest my novel "I, Putin"? It's a completely different, unprecedented view of Putin that you may enjoy. Best wishes! Jennifer Ciotta
