Another great mystery from Jasper Fforde. This time, the narrative starts off with the written Thursday Next, which is a great way for him to tell the story without any of the usual suspects or characters (although, the usual suspects do make an appearance). A well-told mystery and a great story!

Fforde expands on the conceit of BookWorld, giving metaphor, etc, tangible properties. It works as a device and he keeps it interesting, especially during the token River Boat trip with "Mysterious Stranger" and other cliche characters. However, while ereading is addressed peripherally, I feel as though there is an opportunity there to dig deeper into the definitions of "text" and "book", as well as the evolution of authors, publishers and readers. Perhaps the next Thursday Next book will tackle this topic.
