** spoiler alert ** The times might be changing, with film stars renovating Gossington Hall, a housing development in St Mary Mead and good help almost impossible to come by; but Miss Marple and human nature remain constant.

The actual mystery here is excellent, the reader is given the most important clue again and again, even from before any crime had been committed. But having provided a huge hint Christie then leads you down a false path until you're more sure that Marina Gregg was the intended victim than you are of your own name.
