I liked it. It is a retelling of the Shiva myth. It puts Shiva squarely into the Indus Valley civilization, a mystery to modern Indians. I like it because it is an easy to read book which brings alive a Hindu godhead which was, until now, a mystery to me. Ganja smoking Shiva, with his dreadlocks and dancing prowess, comes across as an incarnation of the Mahadev, or Mahesh, one of the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

A few things grated. The conversation, in spite of the writer desperately trying to give it a colloquial flavour, comes across as stilted. An incarnation of the almighty saying things like 'bloody hell' and 'shit man' just doesn't cut the mustard. Nor does him saying 'who'll get my marijuana from the market?' Couldn't Amish use an Indian term? Like 'ganja'? Just a thought. BTW how could Shiva lie about reading a book? In those times, it must have been a clay tablet. I don't think that the Indus Valley civilization had gone as far as producing paperbacks. I was waiting for Lady Sati to visit the supermarket. Thankfully, it didn't happen. I liked Sati's characterization, I could see Sonakshi Sinha the actress in that role.

Nice, clear writing which has appealed to a lot of people. Could do with a bit more spit and polish, though. As mythological retelling goes, Amish bhai is a first class storyteller. Way to go, Amish!

Harry b nair Sonakshi as Sati, so who will be Shiva?

Maria No idea. That's just the picture of Sati that came into my mind when I read Amish's description of Sati. For Shiva, perhaps that guy who wore dreadlocks in that Salman Khan movie last year? ('Ready', coupled with Asin)

Harry b nair hhahaha..better it be Hrithik or AKSHAY KUMAR

Maria Nope. I don't know the actor's name but he was the perfect candidate. Rough and ready and my God those dreadlocks! Besides, he's the right age for Sonakshi...
