Carter Finally Gets It by Brent Crawford was probably my favorite book of the semester. It was literally laugh-out-loud funny and Carter was a really well done character. Carter is starting his freshman year of high school, and he's determined it's going to be a turning point for him. He wants a girlfriend, he wants to be popular, and he wants to have a good time. While all of these things are eventually accomplished, they don't necessarily happen at the same time, leaving Carter always struggling. Carter always seems to do the wrong thing, unbeknownst to him, and is often left wondering why everyone's mad at him. Eventually, Carter finally gets it. Recommended for readers ages 14 and up.
