Julie's review
The Pirate's Daughter by Margaret Cezair-Thompson
Sometimes when I'm on the subway, there will be an ad for a Caribbean island, and I just want to dive in (Remember the girl on the beach in Barton Fink?) That was this book. Every night I picked up the book and dove into the picture.
Lush, vibrant prose. I was utterly transported! No stock characters, honest, real, grabs you in and holds you through the whole story. Swashbuckling pirates, beautiful women, Obeah women.....Cezair-Thompson is a brilliant novelist.

Julie,I loved this novel too. I was a big fan of Errol Flynn so that drew me to it, but it's so much more. A great novel of strong women and a lush place.
Valerie
Exactly, Valerie. I am wondering if someone's optionedthe rights to this yet --it's got such a visual punch, it would make a fantastic film! I might even go see it!
I agree! I even wrote to her via the book's website email, and she wrote back months later, swamped because of her success. She's also on Facebook. I'll write and ask if she's had an option on it. I bet she has.
I am actually going to be on a panel with her (and one other author) at Book Group Expo (October 25th) so I'll let you know if I find anything out, too!
How fun! I love meeting other authors whose work I love and usually they're as great as their work. Good! Let's compare notes.
