I honestly didn't know anything about naval history before reading this book even though my father was enlisted in the navy for nearly 25 years. I am however, a huge history buff (thanks undergrad!) and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more about the five-star admirals that this book portrayed. It was like getting a whole new perspective on many of the battles that I had previously only skimmed over in my history classes. While I don't recommend this as light reading (it's definitely more for the history or military buff!) I found it fascinating and very well written, and very well researched! I also enjoyed the photographs included (it was a nice break from the immense amount of reading, lol).
