First of all, I really like the idea of this book: a memoir in slices. The length varies in these slice-of-life vignettes, which are drawn with thin lines and not a lot of shading. Occasionally, the small, consistent panel size made me wonder what Jeffrey Brown could do in a different format (this was the first book of his that I've read).

The topic left me slightly thinking "ehhh?" because, in spite of the title, I guess I was looking for something a little meatier -- a thicker chain to tie these beads together. However, after a few days, I found scenes wandering into my head, and I think I saw The Point of this book: that you do find life in the small cracks, listening to music on the way to work, navigating relationships, hiking, getting a cat. I felt the absence of a larger story, but daily life does often lack a larger story. The only question is, since we are all living daily life already, can a book with no story work?
