Misfit Ouch.

Rio (Lynne) I couldn't bring myself to finish her other one To Serve A King. I'll definitely not try his one.

Misfit I skimmed read her first one The Courtier's Secret, and that was more than enough for me. Gidget does Versailles. It sounds like she's improved a bit, but in the first book much of that prose was awfully purple.

message 4: by Rio (Lynne) (new)

Rio (Lynne) In To Serve, it was cliche Henry VIII. I was turned off right away when she had "a young" Henry being fat, farting and had crumbs on his beard. Then when Charles Brandon started a fire to kill a spy, so the author could create a loan survivor to be her heroine, I was turned off even more.

Marg I can't see myself reading more from her. Just didn't work on so many levels. I pretty much skimmed the book and it still felt like it took forever to read

Rio (Lynne) At least your misery is over. I hate when books do that to us.

Michelle (True Book Addict) I really liked it.

Marg I know Michelle. There are plenty of people who did, but it really didn't work for me at all.

I understand. =O)

Audra (Unabridged Chick) This one didn't work for me -- I was feeling kindly when I wrote my review but now that I'm distanced from it, I appreciate your comments. It was too bombastic for me -- very nearly a DNF.

Marg If I hadn't had a commitment to post a review I probably would have put it down. As it was I had to put aside a book that I was really enjoying to read this one.
