I have no intention of the playing the video game. It's just not my thing. That said, I picked this up because I'm a Star Wars junkie, and my information says that like Shadows of the Empire, this becomes one of those rare additions to official canon. Besides that, Darth Vader is the surpreme villain, so why fight fate? It's the first official peek at the events between Episodes III and IV, so I HAD to pick it up.
As I was reading this, I thought it was a fairly average tale. Decently written, yet you could see where the video gaming took more control over the story than vice versa. The important thing for me was that Vader was characterized perfectly, and while he's not the central focus here, his shadow stretches to every page. That by itself helped with an otherwise predictable story. But wait...why 5 stars then? Because the final chapter blew me away. It FELT like a Star Wars movie, and much like with Shadows of the Empire, I'd really love to see the finale play out on...more
