Sarah's review
And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon by Janet Stevens
A picture book (that uses my favorite nursery rhyme) which uses all the elements of good fiction.
Repetition of the rhyme, tongue in cheek humor and delightful illustrations (with a few surprises of their own for the careful reader) make this book fun. Periodic pages which contain rhymes of their own, delineate the movement from one scene to another in the story. The characters use their traits (from the nursery rhyme) to save dish as they ask characters in other nursery rhymes and tales for help.
