Simply amazing. This was a terrific follow-up to Fun Home. Like that earlier volume, the story of Bechdel's relationship with a parent (this time, her mother) is understood through the lens of literature (this time, Virginia Woolf, Donald Winnicott, Alice Miller, Freud and Dr. Seuss). If the literary connections are more esoteric in this volume, the result of the analytical calculus is just as powerful. I've studied Miller's work before, and Bechdel's exegesis finally crystallizes the meaning for me. A challenging and enlightening read.
