Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
I happened-upon this book for a small donation on the "free" shelf at the Edgartown Public Library. What a surprise to find and a delight to consume! A magical, earthy escape that envelopes all of the senses. Especially suited for a foodie and romantic, at least for this one. Loved the format, though the dance with time was a bit of a tango. The recipes were intriguing and the story of love, family and food through generations touched my heart (and Italian apron strings). The candle analogy was beautiful. Ok .. am now ready for a very 'informed' dinner at Rosa Mexicana! http://www.rosamexicano.info/ ps - have not seen the film yet ...
