it was amazing

The Things They Carried is a heart wrenching insight into the minds of soldiers. As my fiance had just returned from war when I began this book, I immediately connected to the characters. Unlike many war novels, O'Brien does not focus on the blood and gore of battle, but instead of the war the inside each soldier's heart. The text is easy to read and reads almost like a diary. This book is ideal for any one high school age and older as it does have some adult language. I highly recommend The Thing They Carried to soldiers and especially to their families to help them better understand how their loved ones change at war.
