I found this sequel to be a bit of a disappointment. I was not a fan at all of the story being told in two parts with one being set in the past and one in the future. This takes all the drama from the past story since we know what characters survive to make it to the future and even though we don't know how they made it, the end result is already evident so I just couldn't muster up much enthusiasm for that side of the story.

Julian was a fine character and if he was first I probably would have been fine rooting for him with no problem, but I really liked Alex and to see him replaced like this just for the sake of a love triangle...well, that rubbed me the wrong way. It definitely felt like Lena rushed into things with Julian and didn't give Alex the respect he deserved. Not that Lena should live a chaste live from now on, but I feel like that whole point of this series is the power of love and for her love for Alex to be so quickly forgotten...well, what does that say?
