The Last Princess was an interesting novel. I mostly enjoyed it while I was reading it, and then once I finished it, there were a couple of plot details that just bothered me. It was interesting seeing a post-apocalypse novel take place in Great Britain and even more so from a princess’s point of view. The story jumps right in, which I usually like, but the fact that the king, Eliza’s father, is killed within the first few chapters before I really felt a connection with Eliza. From there Eliza does what she has to do in order to survive. And on a side note, there is even some romance in the midst of all of it (and I did guess the twist with her love interest).

While it won’t be a favorite of mine, it was a quick, lighter (as much as a post-apocalyptic novel can be) read. And though it can stand on its own, there was set-up for a sequel.
