I liked the book and can't wait to read the next. I was really surprised by this book, normally I can not connect to male main characters or books by male authors. This however taught me that I am missing out by not reading books by male authors. The book overall was really good. It felt a little slow at first, but most "first in series" books are that way. When you are creating your own mythology it needs a good foundation and this book gives you that. The author is extremely detailed which I really enjoyed at first but near the end I found myself skimming to get the the meat of the story. I really enjoyed the relationships in this book, good or bad, the characters were easy to connect too. I think this is also a great book for all of us to read, especially teens. It make you think about what we are doing to the earth and if one day we will have to live like the people of this world. I was really impressed by all the readings (which left me slightly depressed by what might be in these books) the author used for his research, he gives you a list if you want to do your own research. I don't want to put any spoilers in here but I am dying for the next book so I can know what has happened to all the characters I have grown attached too.
