Painful and not as quirky as Seeking, this novel shows Vargas's familiarity with Paris and the world of the plague, central to this mystery. This was hard to read, but worth it for its honesty. I enjoyed it all. You also get to meet her three apostles who help with the careful history of the plague, always a fascination with me.
