really liked it
bookshelves: crime-fiction
Read from April 29 to 30, 2012

A short, fast paced Philly-Noir, mystery/crime drama with a dab of sci-fi to sweeten the pot. After my recent fare of weighty tomes, this short but enjoyable novel was a welcome break. Almost finished it in one sitting (well lying really), but that is to be expected for this genre and the author is adroit at keeping the page turn index high. The writing style was intimate, I felt really close to the main character as we followed him around the gritty environs of north Philly. While no literary tour de force, this is solid Noir writing and is recommended.

(disclosure: I've met the author plus I live in the Philly area)
