Eight short stories, three of them forming a story of their own, so basically you could say 6 different short stories.

And different they are!
However, each story has a woman as main character who goes through some difficult or changing moment of her generally sad and unsatisfying life. The life time periods covered differ from story to story but are always long enough for the reader to follow the development of the character with the events.
That is why I liked these stories, because despite being short stories, they let you get to know and understand the characters.
Each story has some kind of twist to it that makes them interesting and surprising, even though I found that sometimes this twist is rather foreseeable.

I did like the very first story “Runaway” the most and that is probably why I kept on reading, hoping to find the others would live up to it; which they did not really, in my point of view.
