** spoiler alert ** Queen Adara is exhausted holding onto her throne...

married to Christian when they were children, enamored of the love his parents showed to each other and to Christian, and with his mother's promise that someday Christian will love her just the same and that they would return in 6 years... Adara has held onto the dream, and refused to declare Christian dead or to annul their marriage (leaving her vulnerable to forced marriage to someone else.

Swelyn, of the neighboring kingdom, Christian's cousin, has been plotting the destruction of Christian's family for dozens of years, wanting his son to marry Adara and to rule botth kingdoms. He orchestrated mistrust between Christian's uncles & grandfather leading them all to killing each other. Christian is sent to a monastery for 8 years when his parents died, and then Swelyn had it attacked... and somehow he survived, but ended up in the hands of the Saracens - and another 9 years in their prisons. As he's been raised in a monatery, he took on the role of the abbott - counseling his fellow prisoners, administering last rites, etc. Now as part of the brotherhood he continues to be the emotional crutch to help those that are rescued...

Adara tracks him down, and the two end up on the run when
swelyn's forces are laying in wait... He gets the assistance of his brothers, and the armies many of them now maintain to join him in claiming his and her kingdom back.

Along the way, Adara realizes how much she loves Christian... and Christian is torn between his duty to the brotherhood, to his people, and finally all is surpassed by his love for Adara...

It takes them 8 months to get the army to their land - Adara is pregnant - and they sneak into the castle, and he simply claims his throne... hmmmm he will rule, he will love, he will protect his family, and he will help the brotherhood in other ways...
