it was amazing

I wasn't prepared for how funny this book is, and it's the insights that are funniest. Just to pick one example, he says that track coaches regarded ultra-running as being "somewhere between competition eating and S&M." It's funny because you recognize how true it is, it's right on the mark.

In a lot of ways, this book reminded me of Tom Wolfe's Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Non-athletes will be able to appreciate this book, just like non-LSD-users can appreciate Acid Test.
