One of the most solid debuts I've read in a while, and I look forward to Healey's career! An asexual supporting character, a female martial-arts-knowing protagonist (although I could've done without the body self-hatred), non-Western folklore....The theme of the eyes was wonderfully creepy, and I loved the implications of Mark's curse. La Gribaldi is a fab character and I would frankly read a bucket of books about her.

The patupaiarehe were defeated a leeeetle too easily for my taste, but there are lots of gaps here to for my brain to play in, and all in all I am more than satisfied.
