Have you ever been dumped? Betrayed? Made to feel like a loser by your scummy significant other just before being kicked to the curb and abandoned? Of course you have! No one goes through life without a little heartache and this book gives specific instances about what certain people did about it. Not willing to cry into their Häagen-Dazs and wallow in self-pity a lot of people decided to get even and get their just desserts.

From divorcing wives taking their husbands to the cleaners to angry girlfriends sticking it to their philandering boyfriends, here are outlined the myriad ways that revenge has been eaten cold. However, this isn’t simply a primer in getting even. It’s an in-depth look at the part that revenge has played in various societies throughout the ages. Almost any culture you can think of has had ways and means of punishing adulterers, cheaters and spouses who have stolen the family jewels and taken off to be with their new partners.

Revenge is apparently a very natural part of the human psyche and we ignore it at our peril. Whether revenge is the right course for you or whether you take forgiveness as the higher road, “The Down and Dirty” has something relevant and inspiring to say about it.
