** spoiler alert ** Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. I loved the dialogue and relationship between Gus and Hazel, and the achingly funny way you realize you're laughing about kids dying of cancer. If the book had ended before Gus died, it would have gotten 5 stars from me, but I didn't like it as much in the last few chapters. The relationship was gone (which I get is the point, but that wasn't favorite part and the feeling of the book totally changed after he used - I felt it didn't flowery well). The stuff with van Houten was odd and I'm not sure I liked how that fit into the story. but it did sort of redeem itself with one last bit of dialogue from Gus right at the end. D'awww.
