Life for Egg is no bed of roses--more an Ugly Fruit plantation on an island filled with pirates and a semi-dormant volcano, and bullied by a brute of an older brother and spoiled-rotten sister who blame him for their mother's death. When the winds of fate separate Egg from his family, Egg's life seems certain to take a turn for the better, but sometimes "too good to be true" is exactly that and Egg finds his own life in danger. Think "Indiana Jones" meets "Treasure Island" with a detour to "Pirates of the Caribbean" and you have a sense of the adventure and mystery that leave the reader anxious to find out--what happens next?
While this review is based on the "Advance Uncorrected Galley" version of this book that I won from a Goodreads Giveaway, I can say, without reservation, that this "uncorrected" galley version is more well edited than some of the "final" copies of other books I've read. Makes a difference.
