A sweet, although bittersweet, story of broken dreams, loss, longing then hope, rebuilding and love. I was taken with the story from the very beginning. If through the mystical atmosphere, it never felt far from reality. I hope very much to hear more from this author.

I feel like telling much more gives too much away. I will just say this book explores many different kinds of loves: old love, love after disappointment, love through pain, new love, growing in love, parent/child love and friendship love. All set in the Alaska frontierland, an extreme and unforgiving environment which pushes these loves to the extreme due to the isolation of the participants. I found these views of love one of the most compelling parts of the book.

Leslee I'll be interested to hear what you think of this book. It caught my interest but I don't think I've put it on my list yet.

Janet Richards I was really taken with this story. It was beautifully told, bittersweet, and lovely. I will absolutely read more from this author. Very unique and memorable.

I loved the story. I started out listening to it, but ended up reading it because I wanted to really linger in the book a bit longer.
