I loved this novel. It is well written and has great character development. It's about a girl who discovers at age 9 that she can taste her mother's emotions in the birthday cake her mother made for her. From then on she can taste the moods and emotions of the person who makes any food she eats. As she struggles to cope with this unwelcome skill, she struggles to understand the complicated relationships within her own family and to find her own place in her family and the world. I highly recommend this book - I couldn't put it down.
