One of the first detective stories and the third book to feature C. Auguste Dupin who also appears in "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" and "The Mystery of Marie Rogêt".

The story as the title suggests is about a purloined letter, Dupin solves the mystery almost immediately(he had actually cracked the case before he was even asked for help by the police) and what results is an awesome explanation of how he did it. Totally enjoyable.
