Two stars purely for the introduction which had some excellent and interesting background knowledge on the evolution of the Sweeney Todd story. The actual tale itself however, was quite lacking I'm afraid. It was the style it was written in that threw me off if truth be told, I had a hard time believing that any of the characters would actually speak the way the writer wrote them as and everyone seemed to have the same voice. It was just really over the top in that sense and the plot was a bit slow and lacking. Not to mention how little emotion I felt to any of the characters. However there were some moments I found quite entertaining and the scene between Todd and Lovett towards the end was very interesting; but I found that was about it. Normally I wouldn't be caught dead skim reading a book but I confess to it this time because sadly I didn't have enough time to read through this, frankly boring, tale word by word. I was quite disappointed.
