I think the TV-version of Sookie said it best when after 3 seasons of continuously being asked "What ARE you?" she finally learned her true lineage:

"I'm a fairy? How F***ing lame."

I'm with ya, Sook. The fairies ruined the Sookie books for me. I could handle the introduction of werewolves, but there's just so much blah blah blah about Fairy Wars and the Summerlands and long-lost half-human/half-fae grandfathers and fairies crucifying people (yeah) and Sky Fairies and Water Fairies and fairy godmothers with long-lost siblings and fairy royalty with long-lost relatives...

Man, remember those really fun books about what happened when vampires 'came out of the coffin' and lived openly among humans?
And this funny Southern waitress got mixed up with a few of them?

I liked those books.
