I don't read too many MB, but I enjoyed this one. It was different than I remember any others being, in that it was really a set of short stories, with the underlying connection begin the Irish town of Rossmore, it's inhabitants, and a proposed new highway that threatens a beloved shrine.

I thought the stories were brilliant...very individual voices (and some of them not so nice) with interesting connectivity. Some characters did return, so you did get a chance to spend more time with a few of them, but it was a little disruptive, bouncing between so many "heads".

The ending wasn't totally unexpected, although the character that discovers the solution to the new highway debate was a surprise. Unfortunately, I felt the conclusion was a bit rushed.

All in all, a good read.
