In the last years I have made it a habit to read the nominees of the Hugo award, one of the most important award for SF and Fantasy. Silently and Very Fast was nominated for 2012 - and a big disappointment.

I appreciate the skill with which the author weaves one impressive sentence after the other. However, I couldn't get into the story itself and gave up after 20 pages. The reader has to do quite some work here. Maybe it's just me but I found the chapters disjointed and the absence of dialgues or likeable characters didn't make it easier. Maybe there is a meaningful conclusion at the end but I am not eager to figure it out. There are better ways to involve the reader instead of just showing off (sorry).
