This was my third book for the 24-hour read-a-thon on Sunday! I read it straight on the heels of A Friend for Grace and found the start to be incredibly jarring. (view spoiler)

Beth and Tom's farm is in roughly the same area as where Letty ends up, outback NSW, but on the other side of the "impassable" Blue Mountains - which of course by the time Letty comes around, are passable, if perilous! I really would have enjoyed more about the journey to Wattle Park (and the selection!) but I still really loved this installment in the series.

Similar to Letty's story, Tom is a bit of a jerk to Grace at first, although Beth is a LOT nicer than... than... the wife in Letty's story. Um. (Mary?) You'd think he'd warm up to Grace when she gallops off, bareback, to fetch help when Beth goes into early labour... but more to come on THAT in book 4!
